Going through some articles of my parents i came across this article a clip on pin, a 4th of July celebration 1904 in Sherwood, North Dakota. My grand parents Roswell & Maggie Bowers and my father Frank R. Bowers help build Sherwood, North Dakota, as to any more knowledge of the town I am not aware. They had a homestead near there after moving from Clear Lake Minnesota. I will send this item if you can tell me to whom it could be sent. Waiting for a return reply. Bruce Bowers 6329 S.W. Greetings people of Sherwood! Have been looking through Sherwood's old newspapers (on film from the ND Historical Society) researching baseball from 1912 to 1916. I have uncovered some great history, and am looking for anything more that might shed light on their games with a famous baseball team called All Nations they played in both 1912 or 1913. If there is any chance of additional information (other than newspaper archives)you might run across such as pictures, please contact me. Who would have ever guessed ND would have played such an important part in baseball history!

I love your message in the article about putting God and family first. I truely believe if we do this everything will be taken care of and we will have many successes in life. I miss Sherwood and it seems life keeps us so busy that we do not get to visit often. I want to wish everyone A Happy Thanksgiving.

Hey, just wanted to sign onto this book. I came back to Sherwood after being gone about 14 years. In May '05 I came back to visit my Grandma Jan. and other family in Fargo. I enjoyed everything and can't wait to return to see it again. I left in 3rd grade with Mrs. Johnson as my teacher, I continued through school and college and have been a Deputy Sheriff in Monterey County, California for almost 5 years now. Take care Sherwood, I remember everything...

Hello Sherwood, I'm the grandson of Nilia Sakshaug, and son of Thomas Sakshaug. I was last in Sherwood around 1965 or so when Nilia passed away. My memories are of going down in her dirt basement, mowing her lawn if we got the mower started and going to the roller skating rink. I remember watching my dad fix something in her basement, getting to close, and getting hit in the head when my dad swung the hammer back. Still have a scare 40 years later from that Sherwood memory. I believe the roller skating rink was down town and was a lot of fun. I work for the Navy as a civilian engineer at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington DC. I am reiring next year and have bought a house in the Shennandoah valley of Virginia. The property is overlooking several farms which will make it nice and will bring back memories of the days I spent in the farmlands of North Dakota. Enjoyed looking at this site and seeing my grandma and dads name in the VFW list as charter members. If I am ever up in that area, will definitely stop in......Rick Sakshaug

Looks like the committee has a great reunion planned. The last one we went to was way, way back but we had a wonderful time. Our family has certainly grown. John and I have four children and seven grandchildren! They are precious gifts. My family (Law) has had its share of losses. My younger sister, MaryAnn, an older sister, Maureen (both grads from Sherwood) died last year. They fought hard against the battle with cancer-Maureen fought it for three years and MaryAnn's cancer spread so quickly that she only lived three months after the diagnosis. Also lost an older brother, Mike, to lung cancer. Your truly is doing well in spite of a tumor removed from the center of my brain back in '82 and a temporary amnesia. I could no longer teach but I'm still here and enjoying all that life gives us. Hope everyone has a great time and especially the class of 1955! Love. Rosie, John and gang

Greetings Sherwood! What a wonderful job you have done in maintaining your website. Thank you, Orlin, for the updates on the Wildcats and the community. You have always served our communities well. Yes, I did say communities. It has been a lot of years since Orlin, Eric Hoefer and Myself met to discuss Sherwood and Carievale (sask) participating in the tradecorridor web site. We all realized what an opportunity it was for both our communities and what you see here is the result of the energy and drive our communities have! Bravo to everyone!! Now some of you are trying to figure out who the heck this Bruce Cook fellow is. Well, to help you out... I served with the Canadian Customs Service at Carievale border opposite wonderful U.S. Officers and friends Tom Harrington and John Styles. I was also Mayor of Carievale before leaving Carievale for Milestone and new work in Regina, Sask. Yes, oh... that guy! Yes, its me. And that you, everyone, for making this website so wonderful. While Carievale is still 'home' after being gone since 1996, Sherwood has almost the same feeling. Over my 14 years on the border, I made friends with many of you and I think of those years and friendships with great fondness. Soon you will be celebrating 100 years! What a wonderful achievement for a wonderful and special community. I wish your days being filled with sunshine and laughter during the celebrations. With luck, I hope to be able to share the celebrations with you and to renew friendships that have been seperated by distance and time only. In closing I wish all the residents of Sherwood the very best. May you all share the very best of health, happyness and prosperity. May all your family serving at home and abroad return safely once again to loving family and friends. Enjoy the celebrations this summer!!! See you there!

I was one of those people and actually was one of the 4 people that performed the Cenotaph duties that day many years ago. If you want a copy of what I received, I'd be more that happy to send you a copy of the article. I beleive this article will be going out in a news letter to most of the other people that attended the ceremonies from Shilo and will bring back fond memories for them as it did for me in our visit to your fair town. If you are interested in purchasing one please let me know by emailing me at kobee27@srt.com Cost of the calendar is $3.00 For those who are not familiar with the community calendar, it is a calendar that lists birthday's of those in the community and relatives of the community. It also gives dates of school sporting events. Thanks Heather

Was great to discover Sherwood on the Internet. I was born in Sherwood in 1924, the sixth of seven children of Albert and Amelia Lundby who settled there in 1908. I attended school in North Prosperity until we moved to Minnesota in 1936 during the drowth period.Served in World War II, then became first a missionary in Taiwan then a pastor in Wisconsin and Nebraska, retiring in 1989. Would enjoy hearing from former friends and neighbors. Lots of good childhood memories. By the way, the Lundby in the 1936 baseball picture was my brother Harold. There are only three of us siblings left,Delbert, who ranches near Broadview, Montana and David a retired USMarine (23 years) who lives near Seattle, Washington. Your reunion sounds exciting.
